Forza 3 cavalcade surpasses 1 million

October was a good month for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gamers, as it saw the release of two of the highest rated console exclusives of the year. In mid-November, Sony announced that its October release, Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 2: Among Thieves had achieved the 1 million unit milestone. Today, Microsoft said that Turn 10’s sim racer Forza Motorsport 3 has achieved similar success, selling 1 million units since its October 27 debut.

Microsoft offered a granular breakdown of how gamers have been spending their time in Forza 3. The publisher noted that Forza gamers have spent more than 6.6 million hours in online play across more than 64 million matches. All said, the Forza community has driven some 590 million miles to date.

Along with the sales milestone, Microsoft also said that the Hot Holidays Car Pack is now available through Xbox Live for MSP400 ($5). The 10-car pack, listed in full below, features 2009 and 2010 models from top automobile manufacturers, such as Ferrari, Mercedes, Lamborghini, and Porsche. Microsoft also noted that the next round of downloadable content will arrive alongside the North American International Auto Show on January 12.

The follow-up to 2007’s acclaimed racing sim, Forza 3 features more than 400 cars out of the box, as well as more than 100 different tracks to race on. For more information, check out GameSpot’s previous coverage.
